Steve Churm owns one of the leading regional media companies in Southern California, publishing 5 magazine titles, including OC METRO, OCmenus, OC Family, Inland Empire Family and Southland Golf. Total circulation for the 5 titles is more than 400,000 monthly. Churm Media also has 4 interactive websites. The company’s total audience, print and online, is more than 1.5 million readers per month. Churm also owns RipeOrange, a marketing, communications and design firm developed to better serve clients and develop custom media and event opportunities.
Besides overseeing the day-to-day operations of the company, Churm spends time as a speaker/presenter for business and leading community events. He shares his knowledge and experience by providing expert advice and insight for business seminars and industry-related publications and websites. He has been recognized as an industry leader in business by local and national media, including FOLIO: Magazine.
Before launching Newport Beach-based Churm Media in 1990, Churm worked for 4 California newspapers as a reporter and editor, including 6 years at the Los Angeles Times covering California politics and the environment. Churm currently serves on 3 nonprofit boards, including the Orange County Business Council, Irvine Chamber of Commerce and Human Options -- a nationally recognized organization raising awareness about domestic violence. Married with three children and living in Irvine, Churm studied journalism and geography at California Polytechnic State University San Luis Obispo. Churm’s personal passions include surfing, skiing, cooking, reading John Grisham novels and teaching.
Chief Financial Officer of Churm Media and RipeOrange
Brian has been with the company since 1988 and CFO since 2004. He oversees all business and financial operations of the company, including accounting, budgeting and forecasting. He is integral in the company’s strategic planning and operations. He serves as an active member of the Churm Media management team. His interests include golfing, working out, collecting presidential memorabilia and spending time with his family.
President / Editorial Director, Churm Media Custom Content
As former president and editorial director for Churm Media, Kimberly Porrazzo oversaw content for the company's portfolio of media brands and led the development of new platforms through which to deliver that content. Porrazzo began her career with Churm Media in 1998 as a columnist for OC Family Magazine, where she penned the award-winning "Mother Knows" column for nearly 8 years. She later served as editor for OC METRO magazine, and was named CCO in early 2008. In January 2010 Porrazzo was named president and editorial director. Porrazzo now heads Churm Media Custom Content, a division of Churm Media. She is a former president of the OC Press Club and has been honored for her writing by the 50-year-old organization. The Small Business Administration awarded Porrazzo its District Director's Award in 2009. An author and four-time contributor to the best-selling "Chicken Soup for the Soul" series, Porrazzo is a South Orange County resident.
As president of ripeorange, Anna oversees all client relations, employees and day-to-day operations of the company. She is a crucial part of the strategic development of the company's goals and initiatives. Anna has more than 10 years of experience in marketing and public relations, beginning her career as Churm Media's director of marketing. While holding the director of marketing position, she created and executed the strategic marketing campaigns for Churm Media, all of its niche brands and renowned annual events such as OC METRO's Hot 25. Anna earned her undergraduate and masters degrees in communications from Chapman University. She is married with two sons and lives in South Orange County. She enjoys running, hiking and spending time with her family.
VP of Digital Development
As VP of Digital Development, Jeff is responsible for the development and maintenance of Churm Media's portfolio of digital products. Jeff first joined the company as an IT consultant, and held the position of Web Director before ultimately being named VP of Digital Development. In his roles, he has led the company's Internet and digital initiatives as it has moved from a print-centric publishing company to a multi-platform niche media and marketing firm. Prior to his tenure at Churm Media, he was an IT and Internet consultant for emerging companies in a variety of industries throughout Southern California.
Director of Design
As the director of design for Churm Media, Luke oversees the art department and guides the design process from inception to finish for all Churm Media's publications including OC Metro, OC Family, Southland Golf and OC Menus. He plays an integral part in development of all design campaigns for all OC Metro events and collateral, such as the annual 40 Under 40, 20 Women to Watch and The Hot 25. Luke integrates exceptional creativity through the entirety of his design ideas. He has more than nine years of experience in graphic design and excels at team management. Living close to the beach, he enjoys bike riding with his fiancée, blogging on his Web site (ninethreestudio.com), editorial photography, cooking and trying to keep current on design trends.
VP of Digital Content
With roots and training in traditional media, Suzanne has emerged as a leading New Media Journalist in Orange County. As VP of Digital at Churm Media she manages the digital content for all four Churm Media brands; including strategy and implementation of digital reach. Suzanne manages the 70 bloggers in the company's network and develops online video content. She also writes a monthly column for both OC Family and OC Metro Magazines. Suzanne is co-founder of BlogCrush, the nation's largest local blogging organization, and sits on the board of directors for the Orange County Press Club. She is an admitted social media junkie and in her spare time enjoys spending time with her obviously exceptional kids, Ben and Emily.
VP of Business Development, Southland Golf
As VP of business development for Southland Golf, Brian oversees Southland Golf's magazine and digital-media sales and marketing, as well as the brand's events, business planning and corporate sponsorships. He started in the media industry in 2000 and has extensive experience in print and digital sales and business development with a variety of local newspapers and magazines, as well as national magazines. Brian earned a bachelor's degree in business management from Vanguard University and an MBA form Arizona State University. A former president of Mensa's Inland Empire district, Brian is married with a daughter and enjoys serving as an AYSO soccer coach.
